Registration fees are only one obstacle preventing youth from participating in sport. The lack of functional sport equipment and safe protective gear is also a major barrier to participation. To address this need, the Saskatoon Sports Council has partnered with the City of Saskatoon as well as local sports stores to assist with the collection of new and used sports equipment. The drive typically runs each year from mid August until the end of September. Equipment collection barrels are placed at most City Leisure Centers, as well as Al Anderson's Source for Sports and Olympian Sports. Upon completion of the drive, the Sports Council coordinates a giveaway day to distribute the equipment to various groups and organizations that have youth requiring equipment to participate in sport.
If you would like more information about the Equipment Drive or would like to donate equipment, or be a recipient of donated items, please call the office at 975-0830 to speak to a staff member.
Please note we do not accept old, worn out equipment, skiis, roller blades, bikes, skateboards, golf clubs, helmets (unless CSA approved).
