The Saskatoon Sports Council Sport for Life Summer Camp Program runs during the months of July and August. The camp consists of a series of one-week sport day camps focusing on two different sports each day. Sports that have been previously offered are: Basketball, Tennis, Badminton, Bowling, Football, Ultimate Frisbee, Soccer, Softball and Volleyball. In addition to the daily sports offered, participants also have the opportunity to participate in swimming lessons offered through the local YWCA. Transportation is provided to and from the various locations each day; and lunch and snacks are provided free of charge through the AKNG & CHEP.
Participants in the program are referred to us by a number of organizations, including Social Services, Saskatoon Housing Authority, Saskatoon Health Region and Big Brothers Big Sisters. The number of participants accessing this program is approximately 20 youth per week.
The Saskatoon Sports Council beleives that the Sport for Life Summer Camps not only provide an excellent opportunity for participants to partake in a variety of sports but also provides the opportunity to develop physical, social, and life skills.
