Although it may be hard to think about at this time with the cold weather and all the snow on the ground, but the 2012 Saskatchewan Summer Games are just around the corner. These 2012 Games will be the 40th anniversary of the Games program since its inception in 1972 and are set to be held in Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan July 29th - August 4th. Sports on the 2012 Saskatchewan Games Calendar include:

Athletes interested in participating in the 2012 Sasktchewan Games should contact their respective Sport Governing Body or the Saskatoon Sports Council to obtain try-out information. Also check back as more information and details will be posted as we approach closer to the event.

Again in 2012 the Saskatoon Sports Council will host the 2nd Annual Sports Expo & Showcase. This years event is scheduled to take place Saturday August 25th at the Sasktel Sports Center. Groups interested in being a part of this event should contact the Sport Council Office.

Based on the response from last year and the new partners wanting to come on board for 2012 I am anticipating that this event will much, much bigger. Reserve your spot today!!!

 


 

Stoon Youth Soccer YOUTH SOCCER - SPRING REGISTRATION


Registration for Spring Soccer Programming will be the week of February 27th - March 2nd


BENEFITS OF PLAYING SOCCER:

Saskatoon will play host to the Triathlon Canada Junior Elite Race!!!

 

The event brings the best junior aged tri-athletes from across the country. This is only the 2nd time Saskatoon has had the opportunity to host this event. The event will be held June 24th, 2012 in conjunction with the Craven Genki Triathlon. Saskatchewan Brain Injury Association – Brain Blitz Gala


Hockey legend, Ken Dryden will be the guest speaker at this year’s Saskatchewan Brain Injury Association's Annual Brain Blitz gala on Saturday April 28, 2012 at TCU Place, Saskatoon. Also enjoy evening entertainment by Ellen Kolenick with Straight from the Fridge; she will be entertaining guests with a musical show unique to this event.

BBALL SMBA - SPRING REGISTRATION


 

 

The Saskatoon Minor Basketball Association is once again having a Spring League program for youth from grade 4 to grade 11. The league includes female and male basketball players in:


Grades 4 and 5    Grades 8 and 9
Grades 6 and 7    Grades 10 and 11


The league will be starting on April 2 and run until May 31. Practices and games will be during the week and will take place in community schools.

 

  • Players can register individually or as a team on the SMBA web site.
  • Teams will be formed by the SMBA, using the Zones and Community Associations boundaries.
  • The cost is $90 (Includes your own SMBA reversible jersey)
  • The cost is $70 (For a player that has reversible from a previous SMBA spring league)

Early Registration Deadline is FEBRUARY 21, 2012

Saskatoon Sports Tourism had a tremendously successful year in 2011. In addition to events such as the 14U National Volleyball Championship, Canadian Junior Ball Hockey Championship, and Dakota Dunes Open: Canadian Tour and NASCAR – Canadian Tire Race Series, Saskatoon Sports Tourism confirmed a number of events for 2013 and beyond, including the 2013 Memorial Cup and 2015 ISF World Men’s Softball Championship.


Saskatoon is looking forward to a busy 2012 season. Look for exciting events including the Saskatchewan First Nations Winter Games, Canadian Junior Speed Skating Championship and the Tim Horton’s Brier to feature some of the country’s best athletes. In May, the Shaw Centre will host the 22U Women’s National Water Polo Championship, the first time the event has been hosted in Saskatoon.


Saskatoon Sports Tourism is a non-profit organization formed to guide the attraction, retention and creation sport tourism activities in Saskatoon.
