Guidelines for Assistance


Complete the application form entirely. Since requests always exceed the funds available, KidSport™ cannot guarantee assistance.

 

An adult sponsor who knows the child/family and can confirm their financial need must sign the application. The sponsor MUST be either the child's school teacher/principal, a community social worker, professional in social work or family services, police officer, or member of the clergy.

 

Eligibility

 

  • Youth between the ages of 6-18, as of the application deadline, WHO ARE RESIDENTS OF SASKATOON, are eligible for financial support.
  • Applications must be submitted before the start date of the activity.
  • First priority will be given to assistance for registration fees into regularly scheduled sport activity, and secondly for the purchase of equipment.
  • Preference is given to participants who are being introduced into organized sport.
  • No assistance is available for travel, sport camps, or elite training.
  • Support is limited to a maximum of $300 per participant annually.
  • Support provided through this program is designed solely for individuals with a financial barrier that is preventing their participation in a sport activity.

KidSport Program Grant

 

How KidSport can help?

 

  • KidSport provides support for sport programs offered through Sport Organizations, Youth Agencies, and Community Associations that maximizes participation opportunities.
  • Preference will be given to sport activities that are new to the community as well as programs that will be continued in years to follow.

 

What Programs are eligible for funding?

 

  • Serve youth from disadvantsged families and up to the age of 18 yrs being inclusive of financial support
  • Include generally accepted sport activities recognized or sanctioned by the member organizations of Sasl Sport Inc. For a complete lisitng of eligible sports please visit www.kidsport.ca/sk
  • Support is intended into a sustained organizaed sport led by a qualified coach or instructor.

 

What does the KidSport Program Grant cover?

 

  • Funding of up to $5000.00 is available
  • Applications are subject to the availability of funds
  • Funds can be used to offset the costs associated with program delivery such as facility rental, equipment, insurance, coaches, officials, and uniforms
  • Costs associated with dance, facility construction, tournament entry or travel, playoff/Championships, etc. are not eligible expenses.

 

Grant Deadline

 

  • There is no deadline for the KidSport Program Grant.
  • Applications are accepted on a first come, first serve basis until all available funding is used.
  • Applications must be submitted and approved prior to the start date of the program.
